On Monday, President Barack Obama met with industry leaders to discuss a long elusive goal: how to save money in the pursuit of more efficient healthcare nationwide. “What’s brought us all together today is a recognition that we can’t continue down the same dangerous road we’ve been traveling “” the costs are out of control,” said Obama. A push for reform has already come in the form of nearly $20 billion for healthcare IT proposed in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. How, exactly, that funding will play out is yet to be seen. For ideas, ExecutiveBiz recently turned to several voices in the healthcare IT field to comment:
- Chris Deelsnyder, senior vice president and managing director of Government Healthcare Solutions, ACS
- Robert Wah, chief medical officer and a vice president in the North American Public Sector organization, CSC
- Eric Wieman, executive vice president of the civilian IT division, Perot Systems
