Sprint CEO Dan Hesse Speaks at the Potomac Officers Club
You may know him from his “wireless revolution” commercial on TV. But on Thursday, June 5, more than 200 members of the Potomac Officers Club and their guests had the opportunity to see Sprint CEO Dan Hesse up close and in person. Hesse, for his part, didn’t miss a beat. Before addressing the audience at the Ritz Carlton in Tyson’s Corner, he straightened his tie, leaned into the microphone, and said, “I hate to use the line, ‘Can you hear me now but … ‘”
Customers and industry experts have been hearing Hesse loud and clear in the year since he took over as CEO of Sprint. In that time, he has helped turn around a lagging customer base and address various other challenges resulting from a merger with Nextel that had been overseen by his predecessor. How can small businesses team with large contractors? Ask Shiv Krishnan
Shiv Krishnan, president and CEO of INDUS, knows what it takes for a small company to rise to the top. Krishnan is the incoming chairman of a rapidly growing industry organization, Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum. SECAF has more than 175 small businesses as members, and is focused on helping small businesses achieve success as government contractors.
How can a business persevere — and thrive — in the government contracting space?
Shiv Krishnan: When you’re starting in the federal government business, you first need to figure out your strength. Once you figure out exactly what your strengths are — what you know how to do exceptionally well — then start focusing on that. Then you will know who within the government maybe is looking to buy those kinds of services.
