  • Credit markets create good news in the Private Jet market

According to the Wall Street Journal, the bad news in the credit markets has translated into good news for those planning to buy a private jet. Click here if you want to see a graph of GDP vs. Gulfstream IV’s price as shown in the WSJ Wealth report. Just because you can get your jet sooner doesn’t mean you’ll get it the way you want it. The WSJ also reported that the customization market to build the interior of your jet and “Have it your way” has never been busier and wait times are growing. The global market for extravagantly customized jets is at an all time high. Here’s a video of some super luxury planes.

    • Interview with CoVant Co-Founder Joseph Kampf on First Acquisition
April 9, 2008 by Brian Lustig
In 2006 Anteon, one of the area’s largest government contractors, was sold to General Dynamics for $2.1 billion. The transaction marked the successful culmination of a stratospheric growth story for the Anteon management team, which had guided the contractor from a $100 million company to the $2 billion mark in a decade’s time.
    • Web 2.0 Tool Eases Pain of Scheduling Conference Calls
April 7, 2008 by Brian Lustig
I’d like to consider myself fairly web-savvy. I subscribe to RSS feeds, use social bookmark sites, leverage Facebook and LinkedIn for professional purposes. And yet, attempting to send out a conference call meeting request from my Apple Mail program to clients with Microsoft Outlook proved maddening.
    • Teresa Carlson of Microsoft Chairs “Fire and Ice Ball” held Sat., April 5th.
April 3, 2008 by JD Kathuria
When Teresa Carlson, General Manager of Microsoft Federal Civilian Government and International Global Organizations, was asked to Chair the Fire and Ice Ball she jumped at the opportunity. Teresa was first introduced to the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area when she attended the 2007 Fire and Ice Ball as a guest of Chapter Board member and IMC Executive Vice President, Suresh Shenoy. Through a series of events, she met Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross. Teresa traveled with Bonnie to Madagascar where she witnessed first hand the life-saving work of the American Red Cross as the Red Cross volunteers went door to door delivering much needed information about measles and malaria inoculations. When she returned home, she decided then that she would get more involved with her local American Red Cross Chapter. She not only serves as the Chair of the Fire and Ice Ball, she is now a member of the Tiffany Circle, a Red Cross initiative that engages women leaders of our community to help the National Capital Area be the most prepared, fully engaged community in the nation - before, during and after emergencies of all kinds.

    Chris Rasmussen
    Chris Rasmussen

Mr. Chris Rasmussen is a knowledge manager and trainer within the US Intelligence Community (IC). Mr. Rasmussen believes that lightweight and inexpensive "social software" tools such as Intellipedia (wiki), blogs, tag connect (social bookmarking service), mashups, etc. provide a transparent and effective way to exchange knowledge over the IC enterprise. These tools, in agency-neutral space, have considerable advantages over exceedingly complex databases and applications often with opaque data access layers isolated within agency footprints. In addition to social software, Mr. Rasmussen argues for the increased use of podcasts/vodcasts and videogame-based learning for knowledge transfer across the IC enterprise. Mr. Rasmussen is also an evangelist for the increased use of "open source intelligence" - that gleaned from public documents, databases, blogs, videos, radio broadcasts, newspapers and discussion boards - within the IC.
